The future
SHELLFISH TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED WELCOMES YOU

INNOVATION
Simipicity
A prototype has been development and the results have proven the opening of raw and blanched half-shell mussels at high volume.

AUTOMATION
Opening System
The technology is developing an automated control system to recognise the mussel length of the mussel in order for the plasma to fire at the muscle attachments.

EFFICIENCY
Reduction of manaul openers
The aim of our technology was to improve margins for processors, and provide a premium product to customers, through efficiency gains and reduction in labour.

PLASMA TECHNOLOGY
High heat,less energy
The plasma technology doesn't cook the mussel meat, therefore retaining the fullness  and goodness of the mussel meat, for operatives to demand a premium price for the Asian Market.

INNOVATION
Problem Worth Solving
PROBLEM
The intensive labour component of opening half-shell mussels and
Difficuilty of grading of mussels, results in over/under cooking.
Contamination issues.
Indirect and direct cost associated with opening half-shell mussels
SOLUTION
The automated opening system reduces manual labour by 70%
There is no need for blanching product through our system.
The contamination factor will be mitigated by reduced labour openers. The other advantage yet to be quantified, is the plasma torches expels ozone, this could potentially be a real game changer in the sterilization of the machine parts and reducing listeria issues in the industry.
With the reduction of labour, the costs such as health and safety, ACC, staff training, holiday pay, and sickness pay, uniform will see major cost savings.
OPPORTUNITIES
The technology has the potential to open other shellfish species such as the famous bluff oyster.
International potential
Automating and grading of mussels through camera vision system.
